The community is invited to attend, or participate in, the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center’s annual horseshoe tournament. Folks can play or just watch as World Champion Joan Elmore and Woody Story demonstrate/coordinate the tournament (demonstration at Noon), with prizes being awarded to first and second place teams. To sign up for a team, please stop by the center on Monday-Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. In conjunction with the tournament, the Center is hosting a cookout for lunch (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM). Fresh off the grill hamburger or hotdog baskets will be available for $7.00. Included are chips, cookie and soft drink or bottled water. If unable to stay and eat, to go orders will be available, so put the Center on your calendar for lunch on September 21st. Thank you to our event/lunch sponsors: Gordon Construction and Zaxby’s. The mission of the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center is to provide a place for older adults to gather for social, recreational and educational programs and to alleviate isolation and loneliness among the elderly. Center membership is $40 per year. It includes over 100 free or low-cost programs, a T-shirt and a daily distribution of free bread. No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Stop in today for a FREE tour and newsletter. For more information, call 615 758-9114.
