Reading Ranger Story Trail Reveal at Long Hunter State Park
Long Hunter State Park will unveil its fourth edition of the Reading Ranger Story Trail with the book In the Trees, Honey Bees” by Lori Mortensen with illustrations by Cris Arbo. The trail combines outdoor exercise with childhood literacy through storybook artwork along a quarter-mile trail in the Couchville Lake area.
Join us for a ribbon cutting at 11AM followed by guided hikes of the trail every half-hour led by park rangers and librarians from LaVergne Public Library. Presentations about honey bees will be at the picnic shelter at noon and 1:30PM. Wilson county Books from Birth representatives will be on-hand to register children for the Imagination Library. Several informational booths from local organizations will be on site 11AM-2PM as well as face painting and children's events.
Long Hunter State Park has partnered with the Lavergne Public Library on the story trail and is advocating the Tennessee State Parks Honey Project, which promotes pollinator and environmental health in the park.
